Born, July 27, 1941, Ellen spent her childhood growing up on Cape Cod and graduated in 1959 from Dennis-Yarmouth High School. College brought her to the western part of the state where she studied at UMass-Amherst and graduated in 1963 with a degree in Mathematics. She taught kindergarten in West Brookfield for several years while she raised her young family. As an excellent multitasker, Ellen also spent numerous years working in a variety roles (waitstaff to manager) in several restaurants and inns throughout western Massachusetts. After moving back to the Cape in late 1997, Ellen and her husband Fred enjoyed being the owners of the Captain Loring House Bed and Breakfast. The two of them also founded ElfCor (a play on their names) and successfully renovated numerous houses. In later years, after leaving the Cape, they opened Elfcor Bed & Breakfast in Hanson, MA and enjoyed several more years serving and socializing with guests. Finally Ellen spent the last part of her professional career working at Walmart in Halifax as Meat Department Supervisor. She retired from Walmart in 2019.

Ellen loved traveling – particularly cruising along with collecting various pieces of art and gardening.
